The 12th Annual Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Conference G-Forum 2008 will take place in Dortmund in Germany on November 6 and 7, 2008.
Leading organizer of this year's conference is Professor Peter Witt, Chair for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Dortmund.
The objective of the two-day conference is to encourage scientific discussion and the exchange of ideas among entrepreneurship scholars, entrepreneurs and policy makers.
The conference will have some "tracks" which will be held completely in English. Herewith, we want to offer an international forum and stimulate the collaboration between German entrepreneurship scholars and their colleagues around the world.
The venue of the conference is the "Westfalenhallen" conference facilities in Dortmund.
The location for the conference diner is the "DASA-Hallen" on the evening of the 6th of November 2008.
On November 5th, we organize a pre-conference doctoral seminar that offers young scholars (Ph.D. students) an opportunity to present their ongoing work and discuss with experienced international entrepreneurship scholars.
Participants
As mentioned, the G-Forum is a meeting place for scholars, entrepreneurs and policy makers, who are interested in presenting and exchanging ideas. We welcome quantitative and qualitative scientific papers as well as presentations illustrating entrepreneurs’ experiences. Conference Topics
We ask for active participation in the conference through presentations. Papers from all areas of entrepreneurial research and –education are welcome, especially those with regard to the following topics: • Pre-Foundation-Phase • Technology Start-Ups • University Spin-offs • Family Businesses and Entrepreneurship • Cultural and Social Entrepreneurship • Corporate Entrepreneurship –Establishment of entrepreneurship in large companies • Factors of success • Entrepreneurial decision making process • International Entrepreneurship • Regional Entrepreneurship • Start-up financing • Strategic planning and business planning • Entrepreneurial Marketing • Entrepreneurship Education • Consulting for Entrepreneurs Abstracts that cannot be allocated to one of the main fields will be grouped in an "open topic session".
Language The conference will be held in German and English. Workshops will always consist of papers in just one of the two languages. There will be no simultaneous translation.
Contributions
If you want to present at G-Forum 2008, you need to submit an extended abstract of your paper by June 30th, 2008 (deadline). Abstracts can be submitted through the conference homepage www.gforum2008.de starting now.
Abstracts should fulfill the following criteria: • Abstracts can be submitted in English and German. Please indicate in your submission whether you prefer holding the presentation in English, German or whether it the language does not matter. • Theoretic/conceptual, empirical studies, and experience papers are welcome alike • Abstracts should not exceed 20,000 characters. Please use font Times New Roman, Size 12 and single spacing and avoid extraordinary formatting as well as characters not included in the ASCII character set. • We suggest that the abstracts should use the following outline. 1. Problem statement (Research contributions and objectives)
2. Theoretical Basis 3. Research Design (Methodology) 4. Analyses and Results 5. Conclusions (Implications for entrepreneurship research and practice) • You can hand in up to three abstracts. Each abstract on which your name appears as one of the authors, counts as one abstract. The number of authors on one abstract should not exceed five persons. • Tables, figures, curriculum vitae and photographs should be submitted in a separate file not exceeding 2 MB. Please, do not provide more than two figures per abstract and refer to the figures in the text as fig.1 ,… Review process Selection will be based on a "double blind-Review". Each abstract will be sent out to at least two reviewers for comment. A selection committee will decide which abstracts are invited for presentation at G-Forum 2008 based on the comments of the reviewers and programmatic fit.
Selection criteria are: 1. Relevance for entrepreneurial research 2. Newness 3. Methodical rigor 4. Conceptual strength We expect to inform authors of the acceptance of their abstracts no later than September 15th, 2008.

The conference fess includes access to all discussions and presentations as well as lunch and refreshments in coffee breaks.
Students may apply for a limited number of sponsored free conference tickets. Applications for such free participation tickets should include a recommendation letter of one of your professors, a copy of your students ID and a short motivation why you want to participate at G-Forum 2008. Please send the applications to fritz.rettberg@uni-dortmund.de. A scientific committee will decide on granting these free participation tickets. Those not chosen are kindly invited to register as a regular participant.
